Inspired by Jean-François Racine

Jean-François Racine is a painter in Baie-Saint-Paul. He's known for its typical Charlevoix landscapes and its winter paintings. For more than 20 years, the artist has used watercolor and oil to pay tribute to Quebec and Canadian nordicity.

The goal of an artist, according to Jean-François, is to stimulate a reflection on society. Thus, it documents the richness of the territories according to the years, the climatic changes and the vagaries of the seasons.

For him, the particular topography of Baie-Saint-Paul gives way to a light that is found nowhere else. This unique light brings depth to his works that he describes as "generous" and "sweet".

His favorite place? The summit of the Massif! You may encounter him painting the landscape of the St. Lawrence River from the top of the La Racine trail (named in his honor!).
