Located in Saint-Urbain, a small community neighboring Baie-Saint-Paul, La Ferme Basque is a must-visit stop in the Charlevoix region. Specializing in the artisanal production and processing of foie gras ducks, it’s a gourmet stop you won’t soon forget!
In 2022, Vicky, Philippe, and their four children took over the farm, which has been well-established and renowned in the region for over 20 years. A human-scale business as we like them, where animal welfare is paramount and quality assurance is a priority.
A 100% Charlevoix-based enterprise, the breeding of ducks and the processing of their full range of duck products take place on-site at the farm. During the summer season, the ducks roam freely in large pastures, ensuring their well-being and natural sociability. The ducks are naturally pre-fed and exclusively eat the finest possible foods, such as whole corn, which further guarantees the quality of the final product. One thing is certain: La Ferme Basque is committed to respecting its birds! This commitment led to choosing an artisanal breeding method that requires more time but ensures a product of exceptional quality.
The new owners, with strong agronomic backgrounds and a great desire to promote their products, are bringing a breath of fresh air to La Ferme Basque. When you arrive, you will find a newly renovated shop and products of unparalleled quality. Duck sausages, foie gras-stuffed quail, confit duck meat, Basque blood sausage, foie gras mousse, and duck cretons are just a few examples of the many duck products you’ll find there, as well as other Charlevoix regional products.
While you’re there, take the opportunity to see the ducks in their expansive pasture, tour the farm facilities, and gain a better understanding of the duck production process. And why not… leave with a few products to enjoy!
Open 7 days a week during the summer season, visits are free and open to the public.
