Savor the flavors of Charlevoix

In 2017, three longtime friends, two chefs and a sommelier, achieved their dream of opening their own restaurant, and Faux Bergers was born. In 2020, the trio got their hands on a small spot on rue Saint-Jean-Baptiste and ventured into opening a wine bar, Buvette Gentille, the only one of its kind in town.

 

Faux Bergers and Buvette Gentille are two sides of the same coin, sharing a passion for great food and wine. With menus featuring 95% locally sourced products, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more local dining experience. One thing is for sure: you’re guaranteed to leave either of these spots feeling delighted.

 

Buvette gentille 

 

Buvette Gentille is a friendly little wine bar in downtown Baie-Saint-Paul. Designed to be relaxed and much less formal than a restaurant, it offers a choice of 7 or 8 appetizer-style dishes and a very large selection of artisan wines. It’s the perfect format for tasting a selection of small plates and savoring the delicious wines suggested by the on-site sommeliers. A relaxed and warm atmosphere characterizes Buvette Gentille and its passionate staff.

 

Faux Bergers

 

Faux Bergers is located on the edge of the fields on the Migneron Family estate. Here, you’ll find locavore cuisine heavily focused on wood-fired cooking, vegetables, and grains, without completely excluding animal proteins. The restaurant’s concept is far from ordinary! Faux Bergers offers a unique 7-course set menu, where you have the choice of a food and wine pairing or selecting beverages à la carte. The chefs come out to the dining room for each course to present what’s on your plate and tell you more about the producers involved, the creative process behind the dish, and so on. It’s not just a meal, it’s an experience in itself. Note that all guests of the evening eat at the same time, like a big family! Punctuality is therefore a must.
