What would an art city like Baie-Saint-Paul be without its Musée d’Art Contemporain? Aimed at introducing the public to the world of contemporary practices, the MACBSP showcases both works by renowned artists and promising young talents. Whether with family, friends, or on your own, it’s the perfect activity to immerse yourself in the art world and discover artists from here and beyond.
For the summer season of 2024, the MACBSP has set up an outdoor public space in the alley next to the museum, transforming it into an open-air art venue. This green, pedestrian-friendly alley will host the Placette, where activities such as meditation sessions, exhibitions, and a bistro will take place. It’s a sustainable development dimension that adds to the museum’s offerings, with a green space open to all, perfect for enjoying the shade on hot summer days, and where what’s cultivated will be used for artistic creation. It’s the perfect opportunity to visit with children and introduce them to the wonders of the art world!
From June 22 to October 14, two artists with strong connections to the region will be featured at the Musée d’Art Contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul as part of the “Outdoors” theme. René Richard, a Swiss painter who settled in Baie-Saint-Paul in the 1930s, represents his daily life as a trapper and woodsman through drawing and painting. Additionally, Karine Locatelli, a lover of the Charlevoix region who moved there about ten years ago, focuses her art on the detailed representation of landscapes. You might even have the chance to meet her this summer, as one of her works will be interactive.
Anyone eager to experience the stimulating world of art cannot miss the Musée d’Art Contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul and its International Symposium (July 26 to August 25, 2024). To learn more about the activities and exhibitions at MACBSP, click here.
