Producer of flour since 1825, the Moulin de la Rémy is still part of the Charlevoix landscape nearly 200 years after its creation. Discover a beautiful site by the river, a true window into the past.
Taken over by Héritage Charlevoix in 1999, the mill has since been lovingly restored. It now produces high-quality organic flour, highly sought after by artisan bakers across the province. With one foot in modernity and one in tradition, Moulin de la Rémy features state-of-the-art facilities while preserving the essence of traditional production methods, such as grinding with flintstone millstones.
Guided tours of the site and the mill are available. It’s a golden opportunity to step back in time and learn more about the fascinating operation of an artisanal technique, inherited from the craftsmanship developed by early sedentary civilizations. The mill’s stone room, water wheel, and the daily life of a miller are all explained by passionate guides who know the history of the mill inside and out! A large bay window overlooking the stone room allows you to see the flour production live.
For amateur bakers or lovers of local products, the mill’s shop offers all kinds of flour produced on-site: wheat, spelt, whole, or cream flour. There is something for everyone’s taste.
A magnificent site distinguished by its beauty, a visit to the mill is a must-see in the Baie-Saint-Paul region. Open 7 days a week during the summer season, no reservations are necessary to enjoy the guided tours.
Did you know…
Not only is the flour produced organic, but Moulin de la Rémy is also part of a circular economy and sustainable development process. Flour production residues are collected by Viandes Bio de Charlevoix to feed their animals, which in turn provide fertilizer to local organic wheat growers, who supply the grains to Moulin de la Rémy. An initiative we love!
